What’s new at GoodFoodWholeLife ??

Well loads has been going on in my neck of the woods and I thought it was finally time to share with you all some of the exciting new things that have been happening!

Did you notice the new logo?!?! I thought it was about time to step up from amateur hour and get myself a lovely new logo to promote my brand and at the same time you’ll notice I’ve changed the colour scheme away from my favourite pink (it was time to grow up!). I used a great service called http://freelancer.com and set up a contest for loads of freelance graphic designers to create me an original logo and compete for the coveted monetary prize. I am so happy with the new branding and hope you all love it too!

I want to make sure I’m engaging with YOU. Ok so now to the corny bit, I have spent quite a bit of time going back to basics and thinking about why it is I started this blog and what I want to achieve. Originally, the main reason was purely personal and a way for me to have a creative outlet and maybe the reason why I have been a bit adhoc with my number and frequency of posts is because I haven’t really had a proper goal. I want goodfoodwholelife to be a place where I can share recipes, tips, thoughts and things that are going on in my world but I also want this to resonate with my audience and really help all of you out there looking for a healthier and happier lifestyle. Are there particular topics and content you would like me to post about in the future? Do you want more recipes, tips, product reviews or do you prefer just my general ramblings?? I want to hear your feedback so please comment on this post or connect with me via my Facebook Page!

I’m running a competition! I want to make sure I’m visible to you guys my audience as much as possible. I am on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and I am running a competition (closing Sunday 29th March 2015 @ 8pm AEST) where you can win a copy of It Starts With Food, a great book to help you with your journey to great health and well-being. All you need to do is head to my Facebook and follow the simple instructions. Good Luck!

I have been healing my gut! About 2 months ago after getting a low bone mineral density result back I made my way to see a Naturopath & Nutritionist to try to get to the bottom as of why with such a great diet and consistent exercise my body may not be absorbing the nutrients necessary for good bone health (unfortunately we have a long history of osteoporosis including early onset in my family so was going through some routine screening). After a long review of my medical history and listening to all of my current symptoms it is apparent that I have been suffering from Leaky Gut/Intestinal Permeability. This in itself can cause a lot of Inflammation but can also be a symptom of other more serious conditions such as an Autoimmune disease so I have been put onto a great integrative doctor and I’m in the process of healing my gut and undertaking other testing to find out what the underlying cause is. You might be wondering what is involved with healing your gut? Well in a very basic nutshell it has meant adhering strictly to a plant and meat based diet with small amounts of fruit and plenty of great gut healing foods and supplements like bone broths, liver meats, fermented vegetables and of course loads of water and rest. I have also taken this one step further and I embarked on an elimination diet to see if there are some additional foods that I may be sensitive to so this has meant cutting out (in addition to cutting out all of the grains, dairy, legumes, refined sugar and processed foods) eggs, nuts, seeds and seed based spices, nightshades (things like chilli, capsicum, tomatoes), coffee and alcohol. I carried out the elimination period for 32 days and have slowly been reintroducing foods and monitoring any adverse symptoms. It has been a slow process but I am feeling amazing and know that all of this will be worth it in the long run!

Well that’s it from me and please stayed tuned because I have some great recipes up my sleeve to share with you all over the coming weeks!
